Chef Matt Manning has searched the Cape high and low for a decent Sunday roast, to no avail…so has decided to make his own!

During the winter months, Matt is hosting ‘Sunday Lunch Club’ – a pop-up roast lunch at a local wine farm. The winemaker will give guests a tour of their cellar followed by a barrel tasting, before seating everyone at large communal table (this ain’t no restaurant), where Matt will serve up some grub.

Expect a nostalgic five course lunch with all the favourites from a classic Sunday roast, we’re talking beef wellington, an array of veggie sides, lashings of rich gravy, and of course…golden roast potatoes! We finish off with something sweet and decadent before you head home for a Sunday snooze (also known as a food coma!)

For our next Sunday Lunch Club we’re heading out to the legendary Luddite Wine Farm led by a master in the wine making industry Niels Verburg!

Niels has worked as a traveling winemaker in France, Chili, New Zealand, Australia & Greece after years of ramshackle traveling, Niels had a longing to work on a farm in South Africa which led him to Bot River. Eight vintages later at Beaumont, they moved up the hill to a 16 hectare patch of land they now call Luddite Wines .Niels believes the nitty gritty of good wine making is to have good grapes, good yeast and even better barrels!
